My Books

      Attachments

I read Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. Attachments is about a man named Lincoln, who is employed at an office as an IT guy. His job is to fix the printers and read the employees emails to make sure they follow the policy. Beth and Jennifer know that there is someone who reads their  emails, so they jokingly send each other weird, personal messages. Lincoln, has never met Beth in person, but ends up falling in love with her because of her emails.
I love this book. I love the fact that Lincoln formed a connection with Beth just by reading the emails. The book is also written in email format, which is cool. I've said it many times and I'll say it again, I love Rainbow Rowell and her work. I totally recommend this book to anyone, young or old. My favorite quote is, "Hi, I'm the guy that reads your emails, and, also, I love you . . . "

      Psycho

I read Psycho by Robert Bloch. Psycho is about a lonely motel owner named Norman Bates and his strange relationship with his mother. One night a tired, lost girl named Marion Crane comes in and checks out a room. After her first night she disappears and Norman Bates is immediately suspected. After two investigators disappear, It's up to Marions fiancé, Sam, and her sister Lila to figure out what happened to her.
I really enjoyed this book. It had murder, and crime, and mystery. It was really well written. My favorite quote was, "I think perhaps we all go a little crazy at times." I found that quote semi-relatable and funny because Norman Bates is not just "a little crazy" he's psychotic. See what I did there? I highly recommend this book. It's a quick read and has some humor and happy moments. I rate 10/10

     Carry On

I read Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. Ive read this book over 15 times. Its like a more diverse Harry Potter. It's about a boy named Simon Snow and his friends who try and protect the World of Mages. If you couldn't pick up, him and his friends are all magicians (wizards). He and his nemesis, Baz, end up falling in love. It's not your average love story. The book is full of romance, action, and sadness, maybe even a little mystery.
It's such a good book. I recommend it to anyone. My favorite quote is, "you must carry on like you've got an endgame, otherwise you can't carry On at all." It reminds me of the "fake till you make it" blog because he's saying you need to pretend you know what you're doing, otherwise you have no purpose. I think everyone should read this book. 11/10

     The Black Dahlia Avenger

I read The Black Dahlia Avenger by Steve Hodel and it was pretty terrible. I'm a sucker for serial killers and unsolved murder but this book didn't speak to me. He writes about the murder, when it happened, where it happened, how it happened, the basics. But he didn't go into much detail about it.

The author spent more time complaining about his sad life than talking about the murder. And there wasn't even any crime scene photos. although, it was well written I have nothing good to say about this book. It was an 1/10. Nah

    All the Bright Places

I recently read "All the Bright Places" by Jennifer Niven. It had 378 pages and took me seven hours to read. The reason I read this book is because I started a two person book club and we exchanged books. It was absolutely amazing. I loved it. It was about these two kids, Violet and Finch, who were about to commit suicide by jumping off a building but talked each other out of it and fell in love. It definitely gave me the feels and even made me cry. The book was pretty generic but had some unique features. It was a combination of Eleanor and Park and The Fault in our stars. It, for some reason, reminded me of American Horror Story: Muder House. Just the way the characters acted and spoke. This is definitely a book I could read over and over. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, just to give them an experience of a great book. I'd say it's a 9/10. It was remarkey-able.

    A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

I read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith recently and I loved it. I'm like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Because I'm stone cold. But for some reason books thaw me out. This book made me cry like a baby. It made me cry because it was such a good book and it had everything to bring a person to tears. It's a coming of age story about a girl named Francie. Telling about her life from a toddler to an 18 year old, living in Brooklyn.  The way it was written was amazing. The phrasing and words just danced across the pages. My favorite character was definitely Johnny or Sissy. Johnny is Francie's father and the husband of Katie. He reminded me of my dad and it was so warm reading the parts with Johnny. Sissy is the aunt everybody loves. Sister of Katie, and an all over the place love life. My new favorite book. 10/10. "From that time on, the world was hers for the reading. She would never be lonely again, never miss the lack of intimate friends. Books became her friends and there was one for every mood. There was poetry for quiet companionship. There was adventure when she tired of quiet hours. There would be love stories when she came into adolescence and when she wanted to feel a closeness to someone she could read a biography. On that day when she first knew she could read, she made a vow to read one book a day as long as she lived.”
